Welcome to Salone del Mobile

In the world of Fritz Hansen we thrive on collaboration. It is how we deliver our promise to emotionally inspire architects, fans and everyone else who works and lives with our designs. By creating space for collaboration, we can create emotionally charged spaces that stimulate the senses and give a sense of well-being, all with a touch of Nordic design.

Collaborating means quite a lot to us at Fritz Hansen – with each other but also with new designers. 2018 is the year for designer collaborations and we welcome no fewer than five new designers to our family of furniture, lighting and accessories. From America to Japan and back home to little Denmark, we have travelled the world to join forces with the brightest designers and we look forward to working together
in the spirit of collaboration.

N01™ chair by nendo

EMBRACING MODERN LIFE

Japanese and Danish design traditions have a lot in common and the new dining chair N01™ is a sublime example of this. In collaboration with the Japanese design studio nendo we have created an armchair that is both minimalist and highly detailed. N01 is a chair fit for the many moments we share at home, be they with our family, around our favourite meal, or working on a project that excites us.

“If you sit on it, you will notice that this is a Fritz Hansen chair. If you live with it, you will realize that this is pure Japanese design.”

Oki Sato, founder of nendo

nendo represents a design language that both complements the Fritz Hansen design DNA and at the same time challenges it with a new take on working with genuine craftsmanship. Millimeter by millimeter, the wooden design is an illustration of aesthetics and functionality. It represents a chair that is not only comfortable but stunning to look at from every angle.

ESSENTIALS FOR YOUR HOME

Planner™ coffee tables by American mid-century designer Paul McCobb

The Planner™ coffee table is part of a relaunched collection by legendary American designer Paul McCobb. Paul McCobb was one of the leading figures within the American design movement of the 1950s. He was known for creating slender designs where form follows function and the table series is a brilliant example of this. The new table top comes in two kinds of Turkish marble, the dark Charcoal and the light Cream, suitable for any modern home valuing the simplicity and materials used in contemporary design. The structured yet minimalist marble surface is placed on a powder-coated steel base. It is an honest design that contains only essential elements – a table top and a base – to serve its purpose as a practical solution for planning your interior.

PAUL McCOBB
(1917-1969)
American Paul McCobb was completely self-taught but his profound understanding of perspective paved the way for his emerging career as one of the most important designers of the time. Perspective and scale in particular became a trademark for McCobb, whose tables, shelves and even lamps were the result of meticulous attention to the room the design would inhabit. Thin lines, simplicity of form and a distinct lightness characterise the works of Paul McCobb. He was a realist and a perfectionist and his design pieces are a clear reflection of his personality.
