Oxford™

The Oxford™ chair was handcrafted for the professors at St Catherine’s College at the University of Oxford and designed by Arne Jacobsen. A symbol of prestige and status, the high back and smooth, curved veneer form were crafted to invoke a sense of space and privacy. The design evolved over time into today’s Oxford™.

STYLE WITH A PURPOSE

Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen as a chair for professors at St. Catherine’s College in Oxford, England, the Oxford™ chair returns to its original form in a new and faithful rendition of the classic design. The flexible yet comfortable task chair works as well in a home office or dining room as it does in a meeting room or public space.

The Oxford™ chair returns to its roots, putting modern technology to work to ensure comfort and craft unite on the traditional task chair. While the reworked chair retains the same silhouette, available with a low or tall backrest, the minimalist design has been updated with increased lumbar support for superior sitting comfort.

The new, extended seat delivers a more natural sitting posture, while the upgraded tilt mechanism and adjustable seat height better respond to different body types and activities. Angled armrests tuck neatly under tabletops. And multiple base options, including a new a four-star fixed base, come in a range of finishes for total customisation. Leather and textile upholstery in new colours enhance the minimalist design, which is equally at home in private spaces as in the office or a public place.
