House for Rejuvenation

Nestled in the historic city of Gyeongju, the "House for Rejuvenation" reimagines the traditional Korean Hanok for the modern age. Architect Jae K Kim has crafted a space that bridges centuries, blending the timeless beauty of Korea’s cultural heritage with contemporary architectural innovation. The project doesn’t just look to the past—it offers a forward-thinking vision of how tradition and modernity can coexist to inspire a sustainable future.

The design unfolds across three distinct halls, each dedicated to a core theme: contemplation, meditation, and remedy. The "Hall of Contemplation" opens visitors to the surrounding environment, fostering a connection between nature and community. In the "Hall of Meditation," the interplay of light and structure creates an atmosphere for inner reflection. Finally, the "Hall of Remedy" offers minimalist elegance, with high ceilings and carefully controlled light instilling a sense of peace and renewal.

Fritz Hansen’s iconic furniture was chosen to complement the architecture’s narrative. "Their ability to blend tradition with innovation resonates deeply with my philosophy," shares Kim. These pieces, with their respect for nature and heritage, integrate seamlessly into the design, amplifying the project's vision of harmony.

"House for Rejuvenation" is not just an architectural achievement; it is a living dialogue between the old and the new, the local and the global. By embracing both history and innovation, it sets a new paradigm for sustainable, culturally rooted design.
