FRITZ HANSEN x fragment design: A STOOL FOR GUITARISTS

In the second edition of Fritz Hansen’s collaboration project with fragment design, an exclusive model titled “A STOOL FOR GUITARISTS” will be launched this autumn. Based on Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Ant, the model features an exclusive design created by Mr. Hiroshi Fujiwara himself. In 2022, Fritz Hansen joined forces with fragment design led by Mr. Hiroshi Fujiwara for the first time to revisit Arne Jacobsen’s Dot, a stackable stool from 1954 known for its minimal design. The collaboration marked the first time for Mr. Fujiwara to work with a furniture brand, and the model received numerous requests from both Japanese and overseas customers. Due to such high demand, the model sold out on the day of the launch. Now, two years since the launch of the first edition, Mr. Fujiwara has focused on the Ant, a three-legged chair designed by Arne Jacobsen. Well-versed in the world of music, he started from the concept of a chair designed for a guitarist. The model is infused with his aesthetics and love for detail.

For the final touch, we used a special high-gloss finish to create a “piano black” appearance. By applying multiple layers of paints, we were able to produce a luxurious sheer that enhances the compatibility with the instrument.

The back of the chair features the bold statement printed “A STOOL FOR GUITARISTS” in white, along with a prominent logo. In addition, the left leg on the back is adorned with a laser engraving that inherits the logo from the previous collaboration, “The Classic/Fritz Hansen: Fragment.” The newly interpreted Ant, known for its classical allure, will be available for sale with limited quantity.

Comment from Mr. Hiroshi Fujiwara

“I used to have an Ant chair in my dining room and enjoyed using it. Fritz Hansen furniture is not only classical, but also practical. I am now enjoying the process of updating my idea of a classic based on the finished design of the collaboration model. I feel that we were able to create a chair that looks more beautiful even with scars.”
