Commission Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 of 22 December 2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food" All Fritz Hansen oil-treated wood products approved for contact with food have been treated with a specific worktop oil. The chemical substances used for the selected worktop oil are either listed in Regulation (EU) no. 10/2011 as amended or in the Swiss Regulation SR 817.023.21. or are classified as not hazardous – meaning that no substances classified as toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic or dangerous to reproduction are used in the product.

The worktop oil contains the following dual use additives:
- E170: Calcium carbonate
- E296: Maleic acid
- E479: Esterified soy oil
Test results of all materials can be obtained.
