The restaurant’s location sets the tone for its expression. Kødbyen (the Meatpacking District) is a revitalised area on the fringes of central Copenhagen. Here, the rustic industrial vibe sets the stage for a bustling restaurant, culture and nightlife district.
The restaurant specialises in fresh seafood, quality wines and cocktails. They consciously select local and sustainable products wherever possible and partner with those who share similar values in taste, quality and sustainability. One such friend of the restaurant is Gut Oggau – the Austrian winegrower focusing on biodynamic wine production with a love for uniting nature, craft and artisanal skills.
In late 2021, Gut Oggau collaborated with Fritz Hansen in an artistic project that created four Grand Prix™ chairs dyed with red wine. Co-founder and Captain of Kødbyens Fiskebar, Anders Selmer’s reaction to the project was to fall in love with the concept, the expression, and the Grand Prix™ chairs.
Fiskebar selected the uniquely angular Grand Prix™ chairs and curvaceous N01™ chairs, both in black coloured wood and soft leather front upholstery. They felt this colour and combination best fit the minimalistic style of the space within the vintage industrial universe of Kødbyen.
“We were really blown away by the Gut Oggau chair project and fell in love with the Grand Prix™ chairs. Initially, we thought we wanted them in light wood, but the black version complemented the restaurant’s look best, and together with the N01™ chairs, we found an interesting combination of contrasting shapes in matching materials. Aside from looks, we felt Fritz Hansen’s approach to quality and sustainability is very much in line with our philosophy, and that made the Grand Prix™ and N01™ chairs a perfect choice.”
